Media Advisory: Celtic Explorer to Arrive in St. John’s
The Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will hold a news conference to welcome the Celtic Explorer to St. John’s. This is the first fisheries science and oceanographic research vessel ever to be funded by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Joining Premier Dunderdale will be the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; Jackie Sheppard, Chair of the board of directors of the Research & Development Corporation; Dr. Gary Kachanoski, President and Vice-chancellor of Memorial University; Glenn Blackwood, Executive Director of the Fisheries and Marine Institute; and Dr. Peter Heffernan, Executive Director of the Marine Institute of Ireland.
The news conference
will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, February 8) at Portobello’s Restaurant,
115 Duckworth Street, at 3:00 p.m. Tours of the vessel will be available to
the media at 1:30 p.m. at Pier 17, Water Street. Media wishing to
