Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Mount Pearl Commercial Spray Painting Booth (Reg. 1601)
Proponent: C&W Offshore Ltd.

The proponent proposes to establish a sandblasting and spray painting operation at 113 Glencoe Drive, Mount Pearl in the Donovans Industrial Park. Sandblasting will be conducted in a new building to be erected on the premises and painting will be done in a paint booth to be installed inside the existing building. The facility will operate Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The undertaking was registered on July 22, 2011; the deadline for public comments is August 30, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by September 5, 2011.

GFI Composites Ltd. Foxtrap Facility Expansion (Reg. 1600)
Proponent: GFI Composites Ltd.

The proponent has submitted a proposal to relocate and expand their fibreglass manufacturing facility to a leased 489 square metre facility at 54-70 Delaney’s Road in Foxtrap, Conception Bay South. This expansion will allow GFI Composites Ltd. to manufacture acrylic tub and showers for the residential housing market. Modifications to the facility include a four-metre fibreglass/styrene emissions stack and a dust extraction system. Excess raw materials such as resin, gel-coat and solvents will not be stored on site, rather delivered from a wholesaler as required.

The undertaking was registered on July 22, 2011; the deadline for public comments is August 30, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by September 5, 2011.

Proponent: Alderon Resources Corp.

The undertaking is released from further environmental assessment subject to the following conditions:
