Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Nipper’s Harbour ATV Trail                                                       (Reg. 1598)
Proponent: Town of Nipper’s Harbour

The proponent has submitted a proposal to construct a permanent, eight-kilometre long snowmobile trail linking the town of Nipper’s Harbour to permanent snowmobile trails of the Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation. The trail will use five kilometres of an existing woods road with an additional three kilometres to be cut. No waterbodies will be crossed. Work is scheduled to take place from September to November, 2011.

The undertaking was registered on July 20, 2011; the deadline for public comments is August 25, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by September 3, 2011.

Second Pond Cabin Access Road - Burgoyne’s Cove                 (Reg. 1597)
Proponent: Barry Seaward

The proponent has submitted a proposal to construct a single lane access road to his recreational cottage at Second Pond in the Trinity North area. This 2.5 kilometre access road will connect the existing Burgoyne’s Cove forestry access road to the cottage site on Second Pond. Work on the access is scheduled to begin upon approval and take one month to complete.

The undertaking was registered on July 19, 2011; the deadline for public comments is August 25, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by September 2, 2011.
