Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

R&B Butler’s Pit Quarry                                                      (Reg. 1590)
Proponent: R & B Equipment Ltd.

The proponent intends to develop a gravel and sand quarry two hectares in size, approximately 15 kilometres east of Wabush. The quarry is adjacent to existing quarries operating in the area and existing access roads will be used from Route 500. Material will be screened on site and the pit will operate from May until November, annually.

The undertaking was registered on June 23, 2011; the deadline for public comments is August 4, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by August 7, 2011.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

St. George’s Area Cranberry Farm                                       (Reg. 1576)
Proponent: Robert McFatridge

The above project was released from further environmental assessment, subject to the following condition:

Lark Harbour Potable Water Supply/Distribution System        (Reg. 1578)
and Sewage Disposal System
Proponent: Town of Lark Harbour
