Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has
announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment
of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Glover Island Gold Project Mineral Exploration (Reg. 1582)
Proponent: Mountain Lake Resources Inc.
The proponent proposes to conduct a mineral exploration project on Glover Island on Grand Lake in western Newfoundland. Activities planned during the project include: construction of a 14-person camp, as well as a 100 drum fuel cache, exploration diamond drilling, surface prospecting, soil/rock/till geochemistry, trenching, trail rehabilitation and surface remediation and re-vegetation. The project is intended to evaluate both the mineral resource potential and viability of a socio-economic, mineable gold deposit on Glover Island. The exploration project will commence as soon as approval is received.
The undertaking was registered on May 27, 2011; the deadline for public comments is July 7, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by July 11, 2011.
