Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

COMPONENT STUDIES RECEIVED:

Labrador – Island Transmission Link (Reg. 1407)
Proponent: Nalcor Energy

The proponent has submitted the following five component studies as part of the ongoing environmental assessment for the project:

1. Vegetation Component Study
2. Freshwater Environment: Fish and Fish Habitat and Water Resources Component Study
3. Historic and Heritage Resources Component Study
4. Socioeconomic Environment: Communities, Land and Resource Use, Tourism and Recreation Component Study
5. Socioeconomic Environment: Marine Fisheries in the Strait of Belle Isle Component Study

Public comments on the five component studies must be received no later than June 23, 2011. The minister’s decision date for the component studies is July 5, 2011. The component studies are available on the Department of Environment and Conservation website at: www.gov.nl.ca/env/env_assessment/projects/Y2010/1407/index.html
