Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Pirate’s Haven (Robinsons River) ATV Friendly RV Park                      (Reg. 1581)
Proponent: Kountry Korner Inc.

The proponent proposes to construct and develop a 50-site ATV-friendly RV park located on a parcel of private property adjacent to Robinsons River, near the community of Robinsons. The park is accessed from Route 404 and the Newfoundland T’Railway. There will be an expansion of an existing multi-purpose building to include showers, washroom and laundry facilities and a kitchen. In addition to the 50 RV sites there will be an outdoor patio constructed, along with a playground area, and a dumping station. The existing two kilometre access road will be repaired and up-graded with Class A material. Construction is scheduled for the summer of 2011.

The undertaking was registered on May 9, 2011; the deadline for public comments is June 16, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by June 23, 2011.

Gaff Topsails Region Mineral Exploration                                           (Reg. 1580)
Proponent: Altius Resources Inc.

The proponent proposes to conduct follow-up mineral exploration work between the Gaff Topsails and Sheffield Hill, near Upper Sheffield Brook in Central Newfoundland. The proposed work will include prospecting, soil/rock sampling, trenching, line cutting and ground geophysical surveys to delineate the extent of bedrock mineralization. The program is anticipated to start in August 2011 and would be completed by September/October 2011.

The undertaking was registered on May 5, 2011; the deadline for public comments is June 16, 2011; and the minister’s decision is due by June 19, 2011.
