Special Ballot Voting Begins Province-Wide

In anticipation of the October 11, 2011, Provincial General Election, Elections Newfoundland and Labrador would like to notify electors that Special Ballot offices open today, August 22, 2011, in all 48 electoral districts. Interested and qualified electors must apply to vote by Special Ballot and applications are available from the district returning offices, Elections Newfoundland and Labrador headquarters, or online at www.elections.gov.nl.ca. 

Office hours for Special Ballot voting in the district and at Elections Newfoundland and Labrador headquarters are:

• Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
• Sunday: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The deadline to apply for a Special Ballot is Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. Completed Special Ballots must be received by either the district returning office or Elections Newfoundland and Labrador by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 4:00 p.m.

Special Ballot voting is designed to accommodate electors who will be unable to vote in person at the advance poll (October 4, 2011) or on regular polling day (October 11, 2011).
