Tender Awarded to Replace Lark Harbour Gym Roof

Island Roofing Co. Ltd. of Cox’s Cove has been awarded a $120,000 tender to replace the gymnasium roof of St. James All Grade school in Lark Harbour.

“This is part of the Provincial Government’s ongoing commitment to upgrade and improve existing K-12 infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador,” said the Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education. “Over the past eight years, more than $460,000 has been invested in renovations and improvements at this school.”

Budget 2011 Standing Strong: For Prosperity. For Our Future. For Newfoundland and Labrador, includes $94.5 million for new and ongoing K-12 infrastructure projects, including $34.3 million for repairs and maintenance.

Since 2004, the Provincial Government has allocated more than $504 million for school infrastructure. In recent years, nine new schools have opened; five more are in various stages of planning or construction; 11 major extension and renovation projects have been completed, and seven more are underway or in the planning stages.
