High School Transcripts Released

High school students throughout Newfoundland and Labrador can expect to learn how they performed this week, as public exams have been graded, final marks calculated, and transcripts mailed to students.

The Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education, noted the overall pass rate for all high school courses is 92 per cent, while the pass rate for public exam courses is 90 per cent, an improvement over 2010.

“Overall, students performed very well in public exam courses, scoring on par or better than last year in the majority of courses,” said Minister Burke. “There was, for example, marked improvement in the marks for Physics 3204, World History 3201 and World Geography 3202. The results in the latter two courses are particularly encouraging, as the department developed an action plan in consultation with school districts last year to focus on student achievement in these subject areas.”

Results for public exam courses can be viewed in the backgrounder below.

Meanwhile, for students who will be writing supplementary examinations in August, exam schedules, registration forms, and learning resources designed to help students review course material can be accessed via the web at: www.gov.nl.ca/edu/k12/evaluation/exams.html.  The deadline for registration is August 2.
