Public Advisory:
Labrador Marine Service Update
The Department of Transportation and Works advises that its marine
terminals in Lewisporte, Cartwright and Happy Valley-Goose Bay will
begin accepting freight for the communities of Black Tickle, Rigolet,
Cartwright, Lewisporte, and Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Tuesday, June 15.
Freight will be accepted for remaining North Coast communities as ice
conditions permit.
The MV Sir Robert Bond will depart Lewisporte to begin
scheduled service between Lewisporte, Cartwright and Happy Valley-Goose
Bay on June 18 pending ice conditions.
The MV Astron service will commence once ice conditions
improve along Labrador's North Coast.
Due to delays associated with the completion of refit work and
current ice conditions, the MV Northern Ranger will depart
Lewisporte on or about June 18 operating on a revised schedule providing
service to the communities of Black Tickle, Cartwright, Rigolet and
Happy Valley-Goose Bay, on a twice-weekly cycle. As part of this revised
schedule, the vessel will also provide temporary service to the
communities of Williams Harbor and Norman Bay, from Port Hope Simpson
and Charlottetown respectively, until ice conditions improve along
Labrador's North Coast. The schedule will be published in the coming
days and will be available on the Department of Transportation and
Works' website. Service will begin to other North Coast communities as
ice conditions improve.
Further updates will be provided as details become available.
