Grant Supports New Recreational Infrastructure in Hopedale
The Hopedale Inuit Community Government will
improve the towns recreational infrastructure with the help of
$15,000 provided through the Provincial Governments 2010
Capital Grant Program.
"This funding will be used to assist with the
installation of fencing and the purchase of equipment for the
community playground," said the Honourable Terry French,
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "A well-developed,
safe playground will provide young community residents with more
opportunities for fun and outdoor activities."
Hopedale is among more than 40 municipalities,
recreation commissions, and community-based organizations
throughout the province which have received funding to upgrade
their recreation and sport infrastructure through these latest
Capital Grant Program investments.
"I am very pleased to see this worthwhile
investment towards the Hopedale playground from the Department
of Tourism, Culture and Recreation," said the Honourable Patty
Pottle, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and MHA for Torngat
Mountains. "As the playground area is centrally located and
adjacent to the school, it is extensively used by the children. With these needed enhancements, it will be even greater utilized
by the young people of Hopedale."
