The community of Benton will see improved
recreational infrastructure in the near future, with the help of
$15,000 provided through the Provincial Governments 2010
Capital Grant Program.
"This funding will be used to help refurbish
and upgrade the communitys recreation area and community park,"
said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture
and Recreation. "Facilities such as this are an important
component to the physical, recreational and social activities
which take place there and encourage residents to become more
engaged in community programs."
Benton is among more than 40 municipalities,
local service districts, recreation commissions and
community-based organizations throughout the province which have
received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport
infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program
investments.
"This is fantastic news for the community of
Benton," said the Honourable Kevin OBrien, Minister of
Municipal Affairs and MHA for Gander. "The $15,000 provided for
this project is just one example of how these grants can be used
to maintain and improve community-based facilities."
