Norman�s Cove - Long
Cove Pool to be Upgraded
The Samuel J. Newhook community pool in
Norman�s Cove - Long Cove will be upgraded with the help of a $14,200
investment provided through the Provincial Government�s 2010 Capital
Grant Program.
�The funding will assist with the
replacement of the pool liner and upgrades to the change rooms,� said
the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and
Recreation. �The Provincial Government is committed to encouraging more
people to adopt more active, healthy lifestyles by upgrading recreation
infrastructure and generally providing a more pleasant environment in
which citizens of all ages can take part in physical activity.�
Norman�s Cove - Long Cove Sports and
Recreation is among more than 40 recreation commissions, municipalities,
and community-based organizations throughout the province which have
received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure
through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
�I am very pleased with the awarding of
this grant to the recreation committee of Norman�s Cove - Long Cove,�
said Bellevue MHA Calvin Peach. �Recreation facilities and equipment are
very important to our towns and grants such as this will assist in
maintaining and supporting the future of recreation for residents
throughout the region.�

Budget 2010: The Right Investments �
For Our Children and Our Future provides an additional $300,000 to
the Capital Grant Program, bringing the total annual investment in this
program to $1.3 million. Since the introduction of the Provincial
Government�s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland
and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million in new funding has been
committed for recreation and sport infrastructure and programming.
