Outdoor Rink in
Hare Bay to be Upgraded
A $15,000 investment from the
Provincial Governments 2010 Capital Grant Program will help the
Town of Hare Bay upgrade its community outdoor rink.
This funding will help repair
side boards and recap the rinks concrete surface, said the
Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and
Recreation. These improvements will allow the rink to be
flooded for ice activities in the winter and utilized for
off-season activities such as basketball, walking, and as a
venue for celebrations during the towns summer festival.
Hare Bay is among more than 40
municipalities, recreation commissions, and community-based
organizations throughout the province which have received
funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure
through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
With this investment, the Town
of Hare Bay will be able to restore this rink and have it safe
and functional once again, said Terra Nova MHA Sandy Collins.
This injection of funds into our recreational infrastructure is
an investment in our residents health and well-being, providing
new recreational opportunities for individuals of all ages.

Investments For Our Children and Our Future provides an
additional $300,000 to the Capital Grant Program, bringing the
total annual investment in this program to $1.3 million. Since
the introduction of the Provincial Governments recreation and
sport strategy, Active, Healthy Newfoundland and Labrador
(2007), more than $70 million in new funding has been committed
for recreation and sport infrastructure and programming.
