Province Invests in
Wonderbolt Circus Production
Wonderbolt Productions has received
$30,000 through the Cultural Economic Development Program (CEDP) to
support its circus production entitled Tricksters, which begins today
(Thursday, August 12) and runs until Sunday, August 15, at Memorial
University's Reid Theatre.
"Wonderbolt Productions has been
providing unique, original theatrical presentations in Newfoundland and
Labrador and across Canada for 25 years," said the Honourable Terry
French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "We are pleased to
support artistic expression in its many forms, and to help enable
Wonderbolt to continue to entertain audiences."
Tricksters is a blend of Newfoundland and
Labrador's comic and theatrical traditions combined with professional
international circus acts and the artistry of Aboriginal dance and
drumming.
"The assistance from the Cultural
Economic Development Program is crucial in enabling Wonderbolt to create
a world class circus," said Beni Malone, Artistic Director of Wonderbolt
Productions Inc. "We appreciate the pivotal role this program plays in
the establishment of the infrastructure necessary for a growing and
productive cultural industry."
