Provincial Basketball Teams to Compete at Nationals

The Provincial Midget (U15) and Juvenile (U17) Girls Programs travel to Ontario this weekend to compete in the national championships. The championships are slated to be held at Humber College and will begin on Monday, August 2, and will conclude on Saturday, August 7, with the championship games.

The Provincial Midget (U15) and Juvenile (U17) Boys Programs also travel this weekend where they will compete in their national championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Games will commence on Monday, August 2, and will conclude on Saturday, August 7, with the championship games in each respective age category.

Team members and their hometowns are listed below.

Midget Girls: Team members include Maria Carroll, Molly Dawson, Sydney Ezekiel, Kelsey Moore, Noelle Stanford, Rosemary Stanoev, Angelise States, Natalie Griffin, Allison Button, Sarah Hickman, and Hannah Jardine of St. John's, Julia Walsh of Mount Pearl and Alycia Leonard of Portugal Cove-St. Phillips. Alternates include Emma Normore, and Kayla Thompson of St. John's. Coaches include Glenn Normore and Pavlina Stanoev of St. John's and Mike Jardine of Mount Pearl.

Juvenile Girls: Team members include Shaina Adams-Suggashie, Taylor Hayes, Jessica Powell, Monica Lee, Janet Lee, and Alanna Mahoney of the Goulds, Teresa Earles of St. John's, Michaela Brophy of Ferryland, Kelli Linehan of Mount Carmel, Emily Nash of Freshwater, Kaitlyn Ryan of Trepassey, and Meghan Vickers of Witless Bay. Alternates include Catherine Ducey of Mount Pearl and Erynn Linehan of Grand Falls - Windsor. Coaches for the program include Doug Partridge, Geoff Moore and Emily Jameson of St. John's

Juvenile Boys: Team members include Tyler Butler, Tyler Evans, Shane Stack, Kieran Hawksley, and Jacob Hynes of St. John's, Shane McEvoy of Admiral's Beach, Gary Neville of St. Mary's, Nigel Lewis of Grand Falls - Windsor, Mark Richards of CBS, Aaron O'Brien of Pasadena, Kyle Manning of St. Bride's, and Adam Keating of Mount Pearl. Stephan Connolly of St. John's is the alternate. Coaches for the program are Mark English and George Mammen of St. John's and Keith Keating of Mount Pearl.

Midget Boys: Team members include Sam Prowse, Stephan Ryan, Evan Smith, Andrew Wood, Ian Hayes, Mitchell Dyer, and Robert Fleming of St. John's, Daniel Foo, and Ryan Harnett of Corner Brook, Joel Goodyear of Port-Aux-Basque, Mitchell Hearn of Mount Carmel, and Brandon Heath of Mount Pearl. Liam Reardon of St. John's is the teams alternate. Coaches include Frank Foo and Jennifer Bursey Foo of Corner Brook and Chad Langdon of St. John's.
