Provincial Government
Invests Over $15,400 in Exploits Heritage
Heritage organizations in the Exploits
region have received $15,440 in operational and project support through
the province's Cultural Economic Development Program.
"The Government of Newfoundland and
Labrador is dedicated to supporting those who work so conscientiously to
preserve, maintain and promote the heritage of our province," said the
Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
"We are indebted to all those who are committed to safeguarding our past
for present and future generations."
Budget 2010 investments in the Exploits
region are as follows:
-

of 11,160, including $5,440 in operational support and $5,760 to
undertake a project to document archival material received from
Abitibi Bowater;
-
Leading Tickles Heritage Society —
$1,970 in operational support;
-
Point Leamington Heritage Council —

our rich heritage," said Exploits MHA Clayton Forsey. "These groups
serve an invaluable role in the preservation and promotion of this
province's unique culture, and I am happy to see them benefit from this
operational support."
The 2010 Cultural Economic Development
Program (CEDP) is providing $1.27 million for operational and project
support to the heritage sector, and about $1.2 million to the
professional arts sector, for a total of almost $2.5 million.
CEDP applications are considered based on
