Annual General Meeting to be Held
This Weekend in St. John's
School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador will hold its
Annual General Meeting in St. John's this coming Friday and Saturday
(June 4-5). Delegates from all 11 regions in the province will be
involved. These delegates represent over 130 schools throughout the
province. The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, the
Honourable Terry French, will address the delegation Friday morning.
Other presentations relating to Canadian Sport for Life and Nutrition
and Sport will be of interest and benefit to those in attendance.
In addition, there are many resolutions brought forth for discussion,
which could result in changes to sport rules, tournament regulations and
format for the coming years. The athletic calendar for the 2010-2011
school year will be set and the provincial tournament hosts assigned at
this time. SSNL President, Dennis Lush states "this is the most
important meeting of the year for those involved in school sport. Our
future directions which affect all our local sport programs, will be
set." The AGM delegates will elect two new vice-presidents before the
meeting concludes on Saturday.
The SSNL Annual Awards Banquet will be held in conjunction with the
Annual General Meeting. The top student-athletes, coaches and
administrators of School Sport will be honoued at the banquet Friday
evening,
