May 31, 2010Residents to Receive "Summer Love"
Brochure
Beginning this week, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador can
expect to receive a copy of "Summer Love" in their mailboxes — a
publication which offers special vacation packages to encourage summer
travel within Newfoundland and Labrador.
"This is the latest installment in our For the Love of NL
campaign, which encourages Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to get out
and enjoy the natural, historic and cultural attractions available right
here in our own backyards," said the Honourable Terry French, Minister
of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "There's hiking, sea kayaking, golf
getaways, museums to visit, a host of musical and theatrical events —
and so much more. The brochure offers a number of vacation packages, and
I hope people will take advantage of some terrific deals and get out and
explore what this province has to offer."
The "Summer Love" campaign combines radio and direct mail with
participation from more than 50 tourism industry operators, offering
various packages for summer getaways. Packages are also available at
www.fortheloveofnl.ca.
Since 2003, the Provincial Government has more than doubled its
investment in tourism marketing, from $6 million to $13 million. In
2009, the total resident and non-resident tourism industry contributed
about $850 million to the Newfoundland and Labrador economy, an increase
of almost $60 million from the year before.
