The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Basketball Teams Compete for Right to Attend Provincial Winter Games

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will see 35 teams in competition this weekend (January 22-24) to fight for the right to attend the 2010 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games in Grand Falls-Windsor.

The regions and schools for competition this weekend include St. John's North-Female (Beaconsfield Jr. High), Mount Pearl South-Male (Mount Pearl Intermediate), Eastern-Male (Clarenville High), Avalon -Male (St. Catherine's Academy), and Western-Male (GC Rowe). The winning team in each region will move on to the games scheduled for March 20 in Grand Falls-Windsor.
