Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted at Faulkner's Flats

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a 95-hectare prescribed burn starting tomorrow (Tuesday, October 5) weather permitting, at an area referred to as Faulkner's Flats. The site is located approximately five kilometres southwest of the community of Hampden and six kilometres east off Route 420 on the Clam Pond resource road in Forest Management District 16.

The prescribed burn is being conducted as part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth. If weather and wind conditions are not favourable on Tuesday, the burn will proceed as soon as conditions permit.
