Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted at Lynx Pond

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a 120-hectare prescribed burn starting today (Monday, September 27), weather permitting at Lynx Pond. The site is located north of Sandy Lake on a forest access road approximately three kilometres west of Birchy Narrows in Forest Management District Nine.

The prescribed burn is part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth. If weather and wind conditions are not favourable on Monday, the burn will proceed as soon as conditions permit.
