Public Advisory: Forest
Access Roads and Bridges Closed
The Department of Natural Resources
advises the following forest access roads and bridges in the eastern
region have been closed due to damage sustained during Hurricane Igor:

Drover's Ridge Road, located off the
Trans Canada Highway (TCH) five kilometres east of Gambo;
- Northwest Pond Road, located off the
TCH, three kilometres west of Glovertown;
- Mint Brook Resource Road, located
off the TCH at Gambo, starting at kilometre 26;

Deadwolf Road at Dunphy's Pond,
located 35 kilometres off the Mint Brook Resource Road; and,
-
Larson's Falls Bridge on Southwest
Gander River, located off TCH at Glenwood, kilometre 58.
The following forest access roads were
significantly damaged and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary:
- Spread Eagle Road, located 10
kilometres west of Whitbourne off the TCH;
- Gully Pond Road located in the Town
of Witless Bay;

Hanging Hill located in Heart's
Desire;
- Joyces Trail located on the Witless
Bay Line;
- Glover Road located at Greens
Harbour;

New Bay Road located north of Grand
Falls-Windsor is impassable at kilometre 11 (Rowsell's Brook); and,
-
Jumpers Brook is impassable at
kilometer 14 (Beaton's Brook).
Additionally, Weir's Pond Road, located
off the Gander Bay Highway, Route 330, is impassable beyond kilometre
20.
The department is continuing to assess
the damage related to the storm and the public is advised to use extreme
caution on any forest access road.
The department will keep the public
informed should it become necessary to close any additional forest
access roads to ensure public safety.
