Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a 240-hectare prescribed burn starting Thursday, July 22, weather permitting, at an area referred to as Thirty First Brook. The site is located adjacent to Grand Lake and is approximately 20 kilometres southeast of the community of Pasadena and 25 kilometres inside the Pynn's Brook Forest Access Road in Forest Management District 16.

The prescribed burn is being conducted as part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth. The prescribed burn will take one to two days to complete. If weather and wind conditions are not favourable on Thursday, the burn will proceed as soon as conditions permit.
