Public Advisory: Northern Peninsula Residents Asked to Refrain from Feeding Foxes

The Department of Natural Resources is encouraging residents to avoid feeding wild animals.

Fox are commonly seen near roadways at this time of the year and reports of people feeding fox have increased significantly, particularly along Route 430 near Gunner's Cove and in the Town of St. Anthony. The department advises residents that feeding these animals may keep them near the roadways and result in the animal being injured or killed by passing motorists.

Feeding wild animals is also dangerous as these animals can be unpredictable when approached by humans.
