Residents Reminded to
Turn Clocks Back
Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador
are reminded to turn their clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 7,
at 12:01 a.m. to reflect the return to Newfoundland Standard Time (NST).
This change will remain in effect until Sunday, March 13, 2011.
"Residents are reminded to adjust their
clocks to reflect the time change, and be aware of the darkness
occurring earlier in the evening," said the Honourable Kevin O'Brien,
Minister of Municipal Affairs. "We encourage all residents to take extra
precautions to stay safe, slow down on the roads, and watch for
pedestrian traffic."
This time of year also provides the
opportunity to conduct a home safety check to ensure that smoke and
carbon monoxide detectors are in good working order.
"We all have a responsibility to be
prepared to ensure that safety equipment works properly in the event of
an emergency situation, and I encourage all residents to take the time
to check batteries, and test safety devices in their homes," said
Minister O'Brien.
