Daylight Saving Time
to Begin March 14
Residents of Newfoundland
and Labrador are reminded that extended Daylight Saving
Time comes into effect this weekend. Clocks should be
moved ahead by one hour as of 12:01 a.m., on Sunday,
March 14. Clocks will revert back to Standard Time on
Sunday, November 7, 2010.
"Residents are reminded to make appropriate adjustments
to their clocks to reflect the time change," said the
Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of Municipal Affairs
(Acting). "I would also like to remind residents to take
a few minutes to conduct a home safety check to ensure
that smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors are
in good working order, and that homes are equipped in
the event of an emergency situation."
The extension of Daylight Saving Time was adopted by the
Provincial Government in January 2007, and provides an
additional one month of daylight to the province. The
Government of Newfoundland and Labrador made the change
to ensure that the daylight saving time pattern is
consistent with other Canadian provinces and the United
States.
