Ministers to Travel to North Coast of Labrador
The Honourable Patty Pottle, Minister of Aboriginal
Affairs, the Honourable John Hickey, Minister of
Labrador Affairs, along with the Honourable Tom
Hedderson, Minister of Transportation and Works, and the
Honourable Felix Collins, Minister of Justice and
Attorney General, will travel to communities on the
North Coast of Labrador, Monday, January 18, to meet
with Nunatsiavut Government officials, the Mushuau Innu
Band Council, community leaders and residents.
Minister Pottle noted that this will be the first time
that Minister Collins has travelled to the North Coast
and that she is pleased to be welcoming Minister
Hedderson back for another visit.
"I am pleased to host my Cabinet colleagues on a trip to
this region of Labrador to witness first-hand what has
been accomplished here, and also to listen to the
concerns of the people who live on the North Coast,"
said Minister Pottle. "The Government of Newfoundland
and Labrador is deeply committed to improving the
circumstances of rural communities in this province, and
by coming here, Ministers Hedderson and Collins are
getting a much clearer picture of the unique challenges
faced by residents of Northern Labrador."
"The Williams Government has done much to improve the
lives of the people living in Northern Labrador through
the Northern Strategic Plan for Labrador," said Minister
Hickey. "This is an excellent opportunity for my
honourable colleagues and myself to engage community
leaders and individuals in open and frank gatherings."
