Media Advisory: Minister to
Participate in AMBER Alert Launch
The Honourable Felix Collins, Minister
of Justice and Attorney General, will join Royal Canadian
Mounted Police Commanding Officer, Assistant Commissioner Bill
Smith; Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Chief Robert Johnston;
Dr. Parry Aftab of WiredSafety.org; as well as a representative
from Facebook to launch a provincial AMBER Alert Facebook page.
The event will take place Monday, December 20, at 10:00 a.m. at
RCMP Headquarters, 100 White Hills Road, St. John�s.
The Newfoundland and Labrador AMBER
Alert program, a child abduction alert bulletin, was established
in 2003 in partnership with the RCMP and RNC. The new AMBER
Alert Facebook page is designed to give police another avenue to
locate abducted children in Newfoundland and Labrador.
