The Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, will participate in a demonstration highlighting an innovative learning experience by grade six to nine students tomorrow (Wednesday, September 15) at St. Francis School in Harbour Grace.  Minister Skinner will be joined by the Honourable Jerome Kennedy, MHA, Carbonear-Harbour Grace, for the demonstration, which is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

At the event, Minister Skinner will also provide details of a call for proposals inviting groups, organizations, and educational institutions from across Newfoundland and Labrador to submit for consideration activities that support innovative learning experiences for youth.

Through its innovation strategy, Innovation Newfoundland and Labrador: A Blueprint for Prosperity, the Provincial Government identified support for youth as an essential element in creating a culture of innovation in the province.　 As part of the strategy, the Provincial Government began providing financial assistance to projects and initiatives that support youth innovation in 2009.
