Media Advisory: Minister to Speak at Awards Ceremony

The Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, will speak at the 2010 Pinnacle Awards tonight (Wednesday, June 16) at 7:15 p.m. at the Glendenning Golf Course, St. John's.

The Pinnacle Awards are coordinated by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)—Newfoundland and Labrador and celebrate excellence in business communication.

IABC is an international network of communications professionals. Its goal is to promote excellence in communications by offering opportunities for networking, expanding knowledge, and ensuring quality through ethics and accreditation.

In its 20 years, the Newfoundland and Labrador chapter has expanded from less than 20 business communicators to an award-winning chapter with 80 members representing government, industry, business, and not-for-profit organizations. It has been recognized as Small Chapter of the Year in 2007, 2008, and 2009. It additionally was named IABC International Chapter of the Year in 2009.
