Facility and Equipment Upgrades Announced for Western
Bay Clinic
The Provincial Government is investing
$50,000 to make several upgrades to the Western Bay
Clinic in Conception Bay.
"The Williams Government is committed to providing
quality health care to patients throughout the
province," said the Honourable Jerome Kennedy, Minister
of Health and Community Services. "Our investment in the
Western Bay Clinic demonstrates that we realize the
importance of not only making the clinic accessible for
patients, but offering an enhanced level of service to
those requiring treatment."
The upgrades involve improvements to the facility and
equipment, including paving the parking lot and making
repairs to the wheelchair ramp, as well as improvements
to the bathroom facilities to make them more accessible.
"This kind of investment by the province in our rural
areas demonstrates the value that is placed on the
primary health care provided by clinics such as the one
we operate in Western Bay," said Vickie Kaminski,
President and CEO of Eastern Health. "From increased
accessibility to enhanced diagnostic equipment and
improved patient comfort, the objective is to make this
primary health care service as accessible and effective
as possible."
"Investments in our health care infrastructure are
investments in our people," said the Honourable Charlene
Johnson, MHA for Trinity-Bay de Verde. "These upgrades
will result in improved services for the residents of
the area, and I am pleased to participate in this
announcement."
In Budget 2009: Building on Our Strong Foundation, the
Provincial Government invested $50 million for new
health equipment across the province, bringing the total
investment by the Williams Government in this area to
over $173 million over the last five years.
