Provincial Cabinet to Host First-Ever Historic Joint Cabinet
Meeting with Nunatsiavut Government Executive Council

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with his Provincial Cabinet will host a joint Cabinet meeting with President Jim Lyall and the Nunatsiavut Government Executive Council. President Lyall will be joined by several of his Cabinet ministers.

"Our Provincial Cabinet is very much looking forward to this historic joint Cabinet meeting with our colleagues from the Nunatsiavut Government," said Premier Williams. "This meeting will provide both governments with an opportunity to discuss a variety of issues, challenges and opportunities, and also to share ideas as we govern our overlapping jurisdictions."

Topics on the meeting's agenda include natural resources, the environment and climate change, education, health care, housing, and the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.

"This is a monumental occasion as we host for the first time in our province's history a joint Cabinet meeting," added Premier Williams. "I look forward to working collaboratively and building upon our already positive relationship with the Nunatsiavut Government for the betterment of Newfoundland and Labrador."

The joint Cabinet meeting will take place Thursday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m. It will be held in the Caucus Room, Confederation Building, East Block.

There will be a photo opportunity at 9:45 a.m. in the House of Assembly followed by a brief media availability.
