Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Monument Unveiling Ceremony

The Honourable Dave Denine, Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, will provide remarks at the unveiling of a monument commemorating the collection of the head tax placed on Chinese immigrants entering the province between May 10, 1906, and March 31, 1949.

The unveiling will take place at the City Hall Annex Park on New Gower Street, in St. John's, today (Friday, September 17) at 1:00 p.m.

The commemorative monument project is being managed by the Newfoundland and Labrador Head Tax Redress Organization, in partnership with the City of St. John's and the Grand Concourse Authority.
