Premier Expresses Support for Opposition Leader Yvonne Jones

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, expressed heartfelt concern and support for Provincial Leader of the Official Opposition and MHA for Cartwright - L'Anse au Clair, Yvonne Jones, who announced today she is battling breast cancer and will undergo surgery next week.

"I was terribly saddened to hear that Ms. Jones has been diagnosed with this terrible disease," said Premier Williams. "Cancer is sadly something that has touched us all in some way or another, and is never an easy thing for individuals and their loved ones to face. However, having worked for a number of years with Ms. Jones in the Provincial Legislature, I know first hand what a determined, strong and courageous woman she is; and I am confident that she will face this challenge with the utmost strength and dignity. I wish her nothing but the best in the time ahead and I offer my prayers for a speedy and full recovery."
