Premier Announces
Senior Appointment
The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of
Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Bruce
Cooper as acting Deputy Minister of Health and Community Services,
effective June 21.
"I extend very best wishes to Mr. Cooper
in his new role," said Premier Williams. "His experience in executive
positions in both the public and private sector will serve him well."
The Premier also thanked Don Keats for
his service as Deputy Minister of Health and Community Services since
November 2007.
"Mr. Keats leadership and contributions
during very challenging times for the department are very much
appreciated, and I wish him well," said Premier Williams.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
Bruce Cooper
Bruce Cooper has held
several senior executive leadership positions in the public and
non-profit sectors. Since January this year he has served as Assistant
Deputy Minister (Policy and Planning), Department of Health and
Community Services. He has also served as Assistant Deputy Minister in
the Department of Child, Youth and Family Services, as Assistant Deputy
Minister (Policy and Planning) with the Labour Relations Agency, and as
the Assistant Secretary to Cabinet (Social Policy). Mr. Cooper is a
former Executive Director and Registrar of the Newfoundland and Labrador
Association of Social Workers and Assistant Executive Director of Health
and Community Services — St. John's Region.
Mr. Cooper holds a bachelor
and masters of social work from Memorial University.
