Senior Appointment Announced
The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland
and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Bruce Belbin as
Assistant Deputy Minister (Advanced Studies) with the Department of
Education.
"Mr. Belbin's professional experience in
post-secondary education is a strong fit for this position," said
Premier Williams. "I welcome him to the provincial public service and
look forward to his contributions."
Mr. Belbin has held leadership positions in
post-secondary education for 19 years, most recently as Associate Vice
President, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton. Mr.
Belbin's appointment is effective July 26.

Biographical Information
Bruce Belbin
Bruce Belbin has held leadership positions in
post-secondary education for 19 years, most recently as Associate Vice
President, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology since 2007. Prior to
taking that position he worked at Memorial University as Director of
Student Success Programs (2004-2007), Student Affairs and Services;
Manager of Student Services (2001-2004), Distance Education and Learning
Technologies; Project Manager (2000-2001), School of Continuing
Education; and, Academic Advisor/Co-ordinator University Liaison
(1997-1998), Office of the Registrar. From 1993 to 1997 he was Manager
of Residence Life at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, Corner Brook.
Mr. Belbin has a Master of Education, Bachelor of Arts
and Bachelor of Education from Memorial University; a certificate in
university and college administration from the University of Manitoba; a
certificate in public sector leadership and management development from
the Centre for Management Development; and, is currently enrolled in a
doctoral program in higher education leadership, University of Calgary.
