Premier Names Interim President of College of the North Atlantic

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointment of Bruce Hollett as interim President of the College of the North Atlantic, effective immediately. Mr. Hollett will serve in that capacity until a permanent president is appointed.

"Having served before as acting President of the college, as well as Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Hollett brings a wealth of knowledge to the position," said Premier Williams. "His diverse experience in other Deputy Minister positions enhances the strengths he brings to the position. I thank him for taking on this challenge and wish him well."

College of the North Atlantic is one of the largest post-secondary educational and skills training centres in Atlantic Canada. The college has 17 campuses throughout the province and one in the Middle East State of Qatar. Information about the college and its programs is available at www.cna.nl.ca.

Biography

Bruce Hollett

Bruce Hollett has held several Deputy Minister appointments, most recently within Executive Council. He has previously served as Deputy Minister of Environment and Conservation; Deputy Minister of Education; President (Acting) of the College of the North Atlantic; Deputy Minister, Department of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education; Deputy Minister, Department of Industry, Trade and Technology; and, Deputy Minister of the Voisey's Bay Project Secretariat. Mr. Hollett also served as Fellow of the James G. Channing Chair in Public Policy at Memorial University. Earlier positions included Assistant Deputy Minister of the Voisey's Bay Project Secretariat, and Director positions in the Department of Finance, Executive Council and the Intergovernmental Affairs Secretariat.

Mr. Hollett has a Master of Business Administration from York University, and a Bachelor of Commerce (honours) from Memorial University.
