Media Advisory: Minister to Present URock Volunteer Awards

The Honourable Dave Denine, Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, will present eight deserving recipients with the inaugural URock Volunteer Award. The award was established in January 2010 and recognizes the contributions of young people as well as organizations with a connection to young people, who give their time and effort in a volunteer capacity for their communities.

The awards show will be hosted by local comedian Jonny Harris and will feature performances by Mark Bragg, The Subtitles, 7 Day Shattering, The Rye, The Mudflowers, The Monday Night's, Ian Foster, and The Pathological Lovers. It is expected that over 300 people will be in attendance.

The event takes place tomorrow (Saturday, April 24) at the CLB Armoury, 82 Harvey Road, St. John's. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with the show beginning at 7:00 p.m
