July 19, 2010Looking to Park Your Plane? Float
Plane Hangar Lots for Sale
Float plane owners in the province will have more space to park their
planes, as a result of Crown land lots now available through an upcoming
public draw. Twenty-seven lots at Paddy's Pond, ranging in price from
$14,000 to $24,600, will be sold as grants (outright ownership) to be
used exclusively as sites for float plane hangars.
"We are pleased to make these lots available through a public draw to
fulfill a particular need in the province," said the Honourable Charlene
Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation. "Our provincial Crown
land is a valuable resource, and we are committed to managing this
resource wisely. Efforts like this one are important in terms of its
effective management."
Float plane owners interested in obtaining a lot must submit an
application to the Eastern Regional Lands Office. Applications must be
received there no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30. Applications
received after that deadline will not be eligible. Application forms are
available online at
www.gov.nl.ca/env/
or at the Lands
Office at:
Eastern Regional Lands Office
Department of Environment and Conservation
Howley Building, Higgins Line
P.O. Box 8700
St. John's, NL
A1B 4J6
An application fee of $113 is required and will be credited towards
the cost of the lot for successful applicants. Unsuccessful applicants
will receive a full refund. The public draw will be held at 2:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, August 3, at the Eastern Regional Lands Office to determine
applicant selection order for the lots through a random draw process.
Applicants may attend this meeting, but attendance is not required.
Following the meeting for the random draw, applicants will be contacted
by certified mail advising them of the ranking of their application. The
selection of lots will take place at a subsequent public meeting on a
date to be announced. Attendance by applicants or their proxy will be
required at this meeting.
The lots are to be used only as float plane hangar locations and will
be sold with the full price to be paid upon signature of the grant
document. Applicants are advised to inspect lots prior to the selection
meeting. Any lots remaining after the lot selection meeting will be
available to float plane owners on a first come, first served basis on
the next business day.
