Milltown-Head of Bay D'Espoir Land Based Net Washing
Pilot Project
Proponent: Newfoundland Aqua Services Limited

Newfoundland Aqua Services Limited of St. Alban's
proposes to establish a net washing pilot operation on land adjacent to
Mill Pond within the municipality of Milltown-Head of Bay d'Espoir. The
facility will be used to wash and disinfect nets that are used in the
aquaculture industry. Biofouled nets will be taken to the site and
washed in a large drum washer, situated in an aluminum containment area.
Clean water will be obtained from an artesian well to be drilled on
site. The facility will treat and recycle net washing water and will not
discharge effluent to the environment. Solid waste will be removed from
the site and composted at an approved facility.

Fortune Area Multi-Purpose Trail
Proponent: Fortune ATV Trail Association Inc.

The proponent proposes a multi-purpose 10 kilometre trail from the
intersection of Gapton's Knob Trail to connect with Tobacco Road, then
south to Fortune Brook across the Lamaline Highway, west to Burnt Hill
Pond Ridge to connect to the existing Grassy Patch Trail. This
development would complete the Multi-Purpose Trail Loop system from
North West Pond Trail to Grassy Patch Trail. The development will be
undertaken in three phases, with the first phase, trail from Dam Road to
Tobacco Road, tentatively beginning in October 2011.

comments is July 20, 2010. The minister's decision is due by July 25,
2010.
Forteau Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Southern Labrador Development Association (Reg. 1510)
This proposal involves the development of an
experimental cranberry farm in Forteau, southern Labrador. The site is
located off Route 510 and the farm will be approximately one half acre
in size. Work will be carried out over a four-year period.
Construction and set up will be established in the first year and years
2-4 will be used for data collection and experimental work.
Construction activities will include ditching, cranberry bed
development, removal of vegetation, construction of irrigation and
sediment ponds, and installation of water control structures and bed
drainage tile. Sand, fertilizers and pesticides will be applied to the
cranberry beds during operation. Harvesting of the cranberries includes
flooding and removal with a mechanical harvester. The earliest
construction date will be September 1, 2010, subject to approval.
