Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and
Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental
Assessment of the
Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Thunder Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor Quarry
Proponent: Humber Valley Aggregates and Asphalt Ltd. (Reg. 1491)
The proponent proposes to develop a five hectare aggregate quarry on
land adjacent to an existing quarry, located near Thunder Brook, 10
kilometres west of Grand Falls-Windsor and 200 metres north of the Trans
Canada Highway. No new access roads are required. Drilling, blasting,
crushing and screening will take place on the site. The quarry is
expected to be in operation for approximately eight weeks between May
and November 2010. No aggregate washing will be conducted at this
location.
The undertaking was registered on April 23, 2010; public comments are
due by June 1, 2010; and the minister's decision is due by June 5, 2010.
UNDERTAKING RELEASED:
Crown District 17 & 18 Five-Year Operating Plan (2008-2012) Amend.
Proponent: Dept. of Natural Resources (Reg. 1471)
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN ACCEPTED AS SATISFACTORY:
Little Soldiers Pond (Incinerator Rd Extension) Gravel Quarry
Proponent: Capital Ready Mix Ltd. (Reg. 1253)
The minister has determined the Environmental Protection Plan is
satisfactory, in fulfillment of one of the conditions of release
announced on September 22, 2006.
