Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has
announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the
Environmental Protection Act.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT ADDENDUM SUBMITTED:

St. Lawrence Fluorspar Mine Reactivation
Proponent: Canada Fluorspar (NL) Inc.                      (Reg. 1418)

The proponent has submitted an addendum to the Environmental Preview Report (EPR) and federal environmental assessment for the above undertaking. The addendum was prepared to address the additional information requested on the EPR and federal environmental assessment as announced on February 1, 2010. Public comments regarding the document are welcome and must be received no later than April 27, 2010. The document can be viewed on the department's website indicated below. The minister will decide the acceptability of the EPR not later than May 6, 2010, upon receiving recommendations from the Assessment Committee. UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Roddickton Pellet Plant
Proponent: Holson Forest Products Ltd.                     (Reg. 1485)

The proponent proposes to construct and operate a 50,000 ton per year wood pellet mill at an existing saw mill site near the town of Roddickton on the Northern Peninsula. The pellet mill will produce soft wood pellets from fir and spruce wood residue from local saw mills. A new building to house the mill equipment will be constructed over a 10 week period commencing in the spring of 2010. The mill is projected to operate 24 hours per day for approximately 310 days of the year.
The undertaking was registered on March 24, 2010; the deadline for public comments is May 3, 2010; and the minister's decision is due by May 8, 2010.
