Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Holyrood Gravel/Sand Quarry
Proponent: Pennecon Ltd.                       (Reg. 1463)

The proposal is for two gravel/sand quarry sites totaling 8 hectares, located approximately 2.5 kilometres from the Town of Holyrood. Site access will be via an existing series access road (approximately two kilometres off the Holyrood Access Road). Sand and gravel materials will be used in a concrete batching plant, located at the Trans Canada Highway/Manuals Access Road interchange. Access road upgrades and pit operations are scheduled to commence subject to approval.

The undertaking was registered on January 8, 2010; public comments are due by February 17, 2010; and the minister's decision is due by February 21, 2010.

Fortune (Cashmere) ATV Trail
Proponent: Fortune ATV Trail Association Inc.                     (Reg. 1464)

The proponent plans to develop approximately 300 metres of ATV trail from the A & J Enterprises Ltd. quarry pit to the Lamaline Highway for crossing to the Horn House Road Trail. Work activities are scheduled to begin in early May 2010 subject to approval.

The undertaking was registered on January 11, 2010; public comments are due by February 17, 2010; and the minister's decision is due by February 22, 2010.
