The proposed WTGs feature a conical tubular steel tower with a hub height of about 65 to 80 metres and a three-blade rotor with a diameter of up to 90 metres. The rated electrical power generation capacity from a single turbine will be up to 3.0 MW. The undertaking will require new gravel access roads, foundations, transformers, underground and above ground power cables and lines, a substation and a permanent meteorological tower.

The undertaking was registered on January 6, 2010; public comments are due by February 10, 2010; and the minister's decision is due by February 20, 2010.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Proponent: 60393 Newfoundland and Labrador Corp.                                          (Reg. 1453)

This undertaking was released from environmental assessment subject to the following condition:

  • The proponent must develop monitoring survey protocols in consultations with the Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service for waterfowl, other bird species, and for any species at risk that might be within the cranberry farm site area.
