Pleasantville Buildings Receive New Roofing

Newfoundland Labrador Housing (Housing) has awarded a $546,000 contract to 10736 NF Inc. to replace the roofs on two apartment buildings in Pleasantville, St. Johns. The Honourable Tom Marshall, acting Minister of Transportation and Works and Minister Responsible for Housing, made the announcement today.

These projects are part of ongoing modernization and improvement projects throughout the province, which will ensure our housing infrastructure is being upgraded and maintained to appropriate standards, said Minister Marshall. Its also good to see the positive economic benefits of these investments.

These current upgrades and repairs are part of Housings annual Modernization and Improvement program. The anticipated completion date for this project is early 2010. As part of Budget 2009: Building on Our Strong Foundation, the Provincial Government will invest $14.55 million for building, renovating and retrofitting social housing infrastructure throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Recently, the federal and provincial governments announced a joint investment of $93 million to build new and renovate existing affordable housing throughout the province over the next two years. Overall, the provincial contribution is $50 million, with the Federal Government contributing a further $43 million.
