Road Upgrades Enroute to Bonavista South

The Bonavista South area is the latest beneficiary of the $70.7 million Provincial Roads Improvement Program.

"With the busy tourism season upon us, once again the Williams Government is investing millions of dollars to ensure the provinces roads remain safe and reliable, for residents and visitors alike," said the Honourable Trevor Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Works.

A tender has been issued to upgrade and pave sections of road in Catalina, Kings Cove, at the intersection in Summerville, and from Kings Cove to Duntara. Church Street in Bonavista will also be resurfaced, as well as asphalt patching at various locations in the Bonavista area and at Knights Cove.

"This funding announcement will significantly improve the transportation infrastructure on the Bonavista Peninsula," said the Honourable Roger Fitzgerald, Bonavista South MHA. "I welcome these upgrading and paving projects as they will ensure safer driving conditions for residents of my district."

The Provincial Roads Improvement Program will create an estimated 1,400 person years of employment and is part of the Provincial Government's infrastructure strategy, valued at more than $4 billion over the next several years.
