Exhibition to Open at The Rooms, Friday, September 25, 2009

Media are advised that the exhibition Cities: John Hartman will be on display at The Rooms from September 25 through December 6, 2009. Media and the public are invited to attend the opening reception at The Rooms, on Friday, September 25, at 7:30 p.m. The public can also join Mr. Hartman for a gallery tour on Sunday, September 27, at 2:30 p.m.

As one of Canada�s leading contemporary artists, Mr. Hartman is known for his large-scale expressionistic landscape paintings animated with the imagery of local historic events and personal narratives. This exhibition consists of important paintings from Hartman�s new Cities series plus related works.

Cities: John Hartman has set attendance records at several venues across the country, and critics and audiences alike have applauded this landmark exhibition. The artist will join The Rooms at the opening and be available for media interviews.

The exhibition has been organized and circulated by the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Owen Sound, and sponsored by Scotiabank Group to commemorate its 175th anniversary.
