The literary sector in Newfoundland and Labrador has
received $115,962 in operational and project support

Economic Development Program (CEDP).

Labrador (WANL), as well as literary publications,
festivals and events including the Winterset in Summer
Literary Festival, which begins today, and next weeks
annual Writers at Woody Point Literary Festival.
"CEDP support for the literary sector is designed to
support and promote the wealth of emerging and
established literary talent in Newfoundland and
Labrador," said Minister Jackman. "In addition to
providing financial assistance to the Writers Alliance,
individual writers can apply for assistance to engage in
professional development activities and market access
initiatives."
CEDP funding approved for the literary sector, to
date, includes:

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation

Publishers Assistance Program, the annual Arts and
Letters Awards Program, which this year received an
additional $25,000 to bring its total annual budget to
$135,000, and through the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts
Council (NLAC), which has seen its annual funding more
than double from $900,000 to $2 million since the
implementation of the provincial cultural strategy,
Creative Newfoundland and Labrador (2006). More than $25
million has been injected into the arts, culture and
heritage sectors since the introduction of the strategy.
